Water Disinfection
Ultraviolet disinfection systems are fast becoming the choice treatment in drinking water, process & wastewater applications all over the world in the industrial and commercial applications as UV systems offer several advantages over other conventional methods of disinfection.
In Canada many Govt regulations (such as Reg 318/319 in Ontario) require installation of an NSF/ANSI 55A certified UV system for small water treatment systems for restaurants, motels, bread & breakfast, gas stations, campgrounds, resorts etc. Rainfresh “RC” series UV units are certified to NSF/ANSI 55A and meet Govt regulations for such applications.
For industrial and other commercial use Rainfresh “R” series commercial UV systems provide an excellent alternative to chemical disinfection such as chlorination. Available as single units up to 165 US GPM or multiple parallel panel units up to 660 US GPM.
Rainfresh RC series UV systems are designed for online water disinfection using the disinfection capabilities of UVC rays at 254 nanometer wavelength, delivering > 40mJ/cm2 at end of lamp life. Featuring single or multiple units in parallel, the systems disinfect water at flow rates of up to 80 US GPM (18 m3/hr). All RC series model UV systems are tested and certified to ANSI/NSF Std. 55 Class A.
FEATURES
RC series NSF 55A UV systems feature an electronic sensor that measures the UV output of the lamp and monitors scaling of the quartz dome & water quality. Audio visual alarms, remote alarm connection and solenoid output is standard. Each unit has a built-in flow control that keeps the water flow rate through the unit within the rated flow of the unit.

INSTALLATION
Feed water quality requirements
Hardness < 5.0 gpg (85.5 ppm); Iron < 0.3 ppm; Manganese < 0.05 ppm; Turbidity < 1 NTU, Tannins/Colour: None; UV Transmissivity > 85%, TDS < 500 PPM, pH: 6.5 – 8.5
If any of these parameters in your water are outside the limits, you may need additional filtration. Please contact Rainfresh for help.
WHAT’S INCLUDED
Use only GENUINE Rainfresh UV lamps : Use only GENUINE RAINFRESH UV Lamps with your UV system. Rainfresh UV lamps are designed with extensive product research and engineering to provide reliable and consistent UV output and performance that ensures the safety of your drinking water. Using non-Rainfresh UV lamps can not only compromise the system performance but also voids the electrical and CSA certification on the product and may result in unsafe drinking water, ballast failure or even an electrical fire. Use of non Rainfresh lamps will void warranty & product certification. See “where to buy” tab for a list of retailers.
OPTIONAL SOLENOID VALVE
Solenoid valves shut down the water supply in case of UV alarm conditions or power failure. This way consumers are protected from inadvertently consuming potentially unsafe water. All RC series UV systems feature a solenoid output to which an optional solenoid valve can be attached.
RC8S – 3/4″ inlet/outlet, for use with RC8 UV system
RC14S – 1″ inlet/outlet, for use with RC14 & RC20 UV systems
Both solenoid valves also feature a manual bypass to override the solenoid valve in case of emergency water use.
